Carlo Sorrentino is Professor of Sociology of Cultural Processes and Communications (SPS08) at the Department of Political and Social Science at the University of Florence. He teaches Sociology of Cultural Processes in the Political Science program and Strategies of Journalistic Communications in the Strategic Communication program. Since 2014, he has been the director of the journal “Problemi dell’informazione” (“Information Problems,” published by Mulino), a historic periodical in the field of journalism and communication. He has written around one-hundred journal articles in periodicals and edited volumes (both Italian and international), as well as several books. The last book he has written was co-authored with Enrico Bianda and is called Studiare giornalismo [Studying Journalism], published by Carocci. He is currently working on a program of research studying the expansion of the journalism field in Italy as a result of the so-called “digital revolution.” This change significantly effects productive processes and the consumption of information, as well as inevitably renders the parameters of the field of journalism uncertain.
