Dr Francesca Ferrando is a posthuman philosopher. She teaches philosophy in the Liberal Studies Program at New York University (NYU). She holds a PhD in Theory and Philosophy of the Humanities from the University of Rome 3 and a M.A. in gender studies from the University of Utrecht (Holland). She has published several articles in academic journals and anthologies and was awarded the “Vittorio Sainati” prize for philosophy, with a mention from the Italian President. In 2016, her monograph “Il Postumanesimo Filosofico e le Sue Alterità” was published by Edizioni ETS. She is involved in both scientific research and mainstream media, having been the first person to give a TED talk on posthumanism. The American publication “Origin Magazine” included her in the list of “the 100 most creative people who are changing the world”. Before embarking upon her academic career, Dr Ferrando worked as a journalist, artist, writer and television personality, publishing books at the Feltrinelli publishing house.
