Lo and Behold

Lo and Behold

Werner Herzog - USA, 2016, 108’

Fri 07 22:30

Herzog presents a treasure trove of interviews with strange and fascinating individuals, whose anecdotes and reflections paint a complex and accurate picture of the modern digital world. Herzog describes the Internet as “one of the biggest revolutions we, as humans, are experiencing”, and yet he tempers this enthusiasm with stories of victims of cyber-bullying and Internet addiction. This detailed analysis also poses deep questions as to the future of the Internet. Will it dream, as humans do, of its own existence? Will it discover the fundamentals of morality, or come to understand the meaning of love? Or perhaps it will soon cause – if it has not already done so – more harm than good?

Visions
The internet is synonymous with democracy and freedom. But what happens when it starts to attack regular citizens or powerful entities? From the risky interweave of lives of the movie « Internet » to the trip to a future of hacking and robotics in « Lo and Behold » and up to the story of the creation of the Struxnet virus of « Zero Days » – a series of movies that look into the hidden dangers of the Web.
