On-line attacks are a worrying and complex phenomenon that has deep cultural and social roots, posing new questions and challenges with respect to freedom of expression on the Web and other forums.
Only a joint commitment on a cultural and educational level can construct the foundations to realise the promises of freedom and constitutive participation of the Web.
The responsibility and the role of providers and the media, judicial routes and educational initiatives by schools are the main issues discussed by experts starting with the results of the BRICKS European biennial project that promoted research into journalism and migration and media education programmes in schools in Italy, Germany, the Czech Republic and Belgium.
