ZERO DAYS

Alex Gibney - USA, 2016, 116’

Fri 07 20:30

Stuxnet is an aggressive self-replicating computer virus that was only revealed in 2010. It had been commissioned years earlier by the American and Israeli governments to sabotage the Iranian nuclear programme, but this highly complex malware began spreading uncontrollably beyond its initial designated target. This documentary thriller by Oscar winning director Alex Gibney, tells the story of a major historical event: the first time a sovereign State ordered the manufacturing of a computer virus in order to explicitly use it as a weapon against a hostile country. It marked the beginning of a new type of warfare where battles are fought not on the battlefield but through virtual Internet anarchy –say hello to cyberwar.
