Iaia Forte was born in Napoli and graduated from the Experimental Film Centre before starting out on stage with Toni Servillo. She collaborated for many years with the “Teatri Uniti” group. During her stage career she worked with people such as Leo De Bernardinis, Mario Martone, Carlo Cecchi, Federico Tiezzi, Valerio Binasco, Emma Dante, Alfonso Santagata and Luca Ronconi and starred in many critically acclaimed shows. She received a best actress critic’s award for her role in “the Misanthrope” directed by T. Servillo, as well as a Fiorino D’oro from the Società Dantesca and three Ubu nominations. Her first big role on screen was in “Libera” directed by Pappi Corsicato with whom she also did “I buchi neri”, “I Vesuviani”, “Chimera”, “Il volto di un’altra”. She has made movies with M.Nichetti, M. Ferreri, T. De Bernardi, M Martone, R. De Maria M. Risi, E.Cappuccio, Peter Greneeway and V.Golino and received two Nastri d’Argento, two David nominations, a Globo d’Oro nomination, a Ciak d’oro nomination, an Agis award, a Linea d’ombra and a Sacher award for best actress. She starred in P.Sorrentino’s Oscar-winning movie “La grande bellezza” and this year shot the movies “La vita oscena” directed by R. De Maria, “Terra Madre” directed by G.Manfredonia and “Il Giovane favoloso” by M.Martone. In 2015 she starred in G. Manfredonia’s “Sotto copertura” and is currently shooting “Squadra antimafia” with R. De Maria. She also appeared on stage in the adaptation of P. Sorrentino’s novel “Hanno tutti ragione” and in “La Morte di Danton” directed by M. Martone. She has worked with great musicians such as Danilo Rea, Steve Lacy, Daniele Sepe, Luigi Cinque and starred in a production of Carmen directed by M. Martone with the Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio and in “Histoire du soldat” directed by Maddalena Maggi.
