Roberto Bernabò is director of all the Finegil daily publications and former director of Tirreno, the major local daily of the L’Espresso Group.
He began working as a journalist at age 19, as a reporter in his hometown Pietrasanta. He went on to an entire career at Il Tirreno: editor-in-chief of the Viareggio edition since 1986, vice director since 2000 and finally director since June 2009.
Under his leadership the newspaper has strengthened its commitment to developing its website and established 13 homepages, on which all its journalists collaborate to guarantee real-time reporting and a strong social media presence.
In recent years the Il Tirreno website has twice been a finalist in the Online Journalism Awards, in the section entitled “general excellence in non-English online journalism, small/medium sites”. For the past year the daily has been working on a digital first project in Prato.
