Tsegehans Weldeslassie, Ziggy for his friends, was born in 1980 in Asmara. After university, like all people his age in Eritrea he is sent to a military camp. He has no choice as under the dictatorship in place, being sent to military camp is compulsory and no-one knows for how long they get sent.
Ziggy refuses and choses to flee to Europe. He sneaks across the border into Sudan and finds himself in the desert, thousands of kilometers away from Libia, where he will eventually attempt to set sail on one of the terrifying makeshift boats that each day reach the shores of the Mediterranean.
